That era of Cadillac has the engine mounted normally, then they use a TH400 transmission that’s chain driven with the transmission pointed back towards the front of the car. Then the diff is bolted directly to the transmission & the front axle shafts bolt to it. It’s an interesting design. Basically you pull the motor, trans & diff all as a unit & it literally comes out in a couple of hours. The hardest part is getting the shafts undone. Bolts are a bit tough to reach but it’s a pretty reliable mill in there. They used it for a lot of years & pretty trouble free.
