Texas soil is known for massive movement. Temperature & moisture changes are alot of it, not having or getting to the bedrock is to blame too. I think Texas leads the nation in excavation deaths, soft dirt & lots of things being buried underground. And yes builders go with low bid & concrete labor here is low paid migrant workers.
