Yes, you can do it. The difficult part is putting the pan back on with the new gasket. Place the gasket on the pan with the sealer of your choice, then work the pan up and screw in a couple bolts to hold the pan up until you get all bolts in place, then tighten. Use silicone seal on the gasket joints. If you are using a 3/8 extension, it helps to have a universal joint between the end of the extension and 1/2 inch socket.
