they are making drop in electric conversion kits that fit in the place of common v8 gas engines. from what i saw, you bolt the motor into the engine bay and connect it to the stock transmission. the kit is modular and you choose controller and battery to suit. i saw a farm tractor at a farm restoration village on long island where they had basically done the same thing. mounted a motor to the transmission and installed batteries. it was eerie to see this tractor cruising around making no familiar tractor noises....
