Totally cover the entire manifold in fine DRY sand, at least 4 inched deep. Let it sit covered in sand for over night and cool. This will let it cool slowly, evenly, and not put stresses on it during the cool down. Dont cover it in sand and you will get a much faster cool in some areas and still hot in other areas, thus adding stress.
