I called him a couple of times and talked about a differential problem I was having, and whether I would want to work on it myself or have him do the work. He spent quite a while on the phone, describing how to do the job, and then sent me a pile of papers (at no charge to me), including photocopies of repair manuals, with his own hand-written notes on certain details of the job. He said if I ever wanted to call him to get more guidance, he could walk me through the job. I eventually ended up paying him to do it, but I really appreciate how freely he shared his knowledge. Some other folks get a bit testy when they feel like they're being asked too many questions. Bob never seemed that way.
