Poly blocks and LA blocks have a few subtle casting differences that make it very difficult to put poly heads on an LA block. Dimensions are identical but things like pushrods and water ports don't line up. Tried it once to see. But swapping cranks is drop-in precise, which is nice cuz the forged poly crank beats the hell out of a cast LA crank.
