When I got my first truck I decided to get it running and stopping, and to basically get it dependable where I could jump in it at any time and drive 100 miles without worry. I figured I would worry about making it pretty later.
Well, 40 years later, it still has the "patina" that it came with when I bought it in 1980. Every scratch, spot of rust, ground off weld bead, and dent tells me a story. Some of those beauty marks even got put there by me. It is a reliable truck to drive. It causes my wife and I to slow down and enjoy life a little. And, it IS a work truck and pays for itself every trip we take in it to town. It also generates a LOT of interest at antique truck and tractor shows and gets a lot of positive comments.
I am glad I never rushed into making it pretty.
