Easier and more educational is to look at the Torque formula. In the formula, K describes the type of finish on a fastener, lubrication of the fastener, even the use of Never Seize also called Anti Seize.
All these change the torque value of a fastener. If you don’t apply the correct number to K in the Torque Formula, you will over or under torque the fastener. Fastenal Corporation has a wonderful Technical Reference available to down load. Its full of information on fasteners. If your building or working with fasteners you need to know what is in the Technical Reference. I have suggested this reading quite a few times over the years. Its a Must Know Read.
