Heat will help. Use Paul in NY wax method. Heat with a torch until it will easily melt candle wax. When hot melt wax but touching a candle along the joint between the drum and screw. You may have to do it several times. The wax will flow back into the threads and lubricate. The heating and cooling also help break the rust. I was amazed how well it worked for me. I replaced the screws with hex head screws which will make it easier to remove. I did use never seize so there should be no problems.
The only downside for me was I used birthday candles, which work great. However, the wife was not too happy when she went to her supply of candles and she was short several candles. Seems that I should have replaced what I used.
