Heat is a good idea. But, you will also likely need some mechanical advantage. A screwdriver will bugger the slot.
What I did was to get a cheap drag link socket of the approximate size of the screw head and grind it down to fit exactly. I then used an impact screwdriver that you hold (no air needed).
Worked like a champ.
Mine were also relics as to how long they had been in there.
When I reassembled I used never-seize.
