Abandoned farm find (WC-6, 4x2?)

On a hunch we took a drive to find a WC-6 on an abandoned farm site. Serial number 8621211 delivered in Sept. 1941. Upon inspection we discovered that the workings for the front axle 4 wheel drive were never installed? I'm not vary familiar with the early 1/2 ton WC series. Were the 4x2 versions rare or were the 4x4 more rare? Surprisingly there are a number of parts that can be saved. Ill post more pictures below
