I am working on a Thermador window swamp cooler I have had for years. There is a long 12-15 inch coil spring with a rod thru it that winds up so when the drum is rotated thru the water, the drum returns to its original position. the ends of the spring are bent to fix them in their specific holes to keep the end in place. I am afraid to re-bend them for fear they might break. In general, can coil spring material be heated to make is softer so I can bend it. Sorry, the photos I took came out fuzzy. Can try again tomorrow.
