Thanks for all the info on head gaskets, after a busy week of being on call at work I'm finally ready to tear it back down and check everything out. I ordered a felpro 7688c this time as I don't think the Carquest folks will warranty another gasket and I want to try something different. From what I read from all of you I will first check the block and head to be sure they are flat, use sealant on the head bolts after cleaning them and the holes with tap & die, torque to 70 ftlbs with the final torque done while the engine is hot.
One of you sent an e-mail about whether or not to use sealer on the copper side of the gasket. Any ideas on where to use sealer and how much?
