I modified a '52 Chevy to use a vacuum reservoir to improve the wipers once upon a time. Didn't help much on those long uphills.
My B-4-PW now has aftermarket ("speedshop" 12v electrics for usability and safety. I doubt than anybody would notice the difference from the outside assuming we were not in a judging situation.
When I re-wired the truck, I strayed a bit from stock. Like putting in a decent (10 or 12) fuse block etc. So I had a couple of extra electrical circuits to handle. Not wanting to drill a hole in the dash (welded up enough of those, thanks...) and being short the stock heater control unit, I worked from a photo and made a 4-wide switch console that looks like the original. Now it handles wipers, heater fan, spotlight and air horn, IIRC.
