Q1 - There is a difference in the internal parts between the early and late NP420, rebuild standards may not be the same for bearing surfaces.
Q2 - It's rated for a 1 ton as well, it's a big tranny.
Q3
- Drive gear outside bearing surface - wear limit 0.745
- Drive gear inside bearing surface - wear limit 1.5504
- Main shaft outside bearing surface - wear limit 0.9815
- Reverse idler gear bearing inside - wear limit 0.992
- Outside diameter of shaft - wear limit 0.9855
- Countershaft front bearing surface - when worn outside specs. of new part 1.3775 to 1.3780
- Countershaft rear bearing surface - wear limit 1.748
Q4 - Look at the long flat surface under the pumpking for gear ratio.
PIF transmission section has after market shaft/gear numbers/source if you can't get parts from VPW or MWM.
