Great reply, thank you Matt!
I currently have XZL's and measuring my spare, they come in at a hair over 39" overall height. The listed free diameter of the Nitto 40" is 39.58"...so not too far off the XZL's
I also just noticed that the max pressure of the 40's is 35 psi, not 50 psi like the 37's, or 80 psi like the XZL's, so there will be more bulge and squat as well as rolling resistance.
Currently, I'm fine on flat ground, but when I go down into some of the ravines here, I have to gear down coming up the far side due to lost momentum as it's climbing. I usually take the back gravel roads pretty mild, I'm just hoping for the odd 60mph jaunt down the highway for 20 minutes to get to the next major town instead of a labyrinth of gravel roads.
As posted in another reply, I ultimately intend to replace the flathead with a 360 at some point.
I'm not in a huge rush to order the rubber, I'll probably finish the diff swap and brake conversion and take it for a spin with the XZL's and see what I'm dealing with.
