Mileage depends on the condition of your vehicle. If you have brakes that drag or the TC band dragging on the drum, it's going to impact your mileage. Most of us don't care about mileage, that isn't what attracts us to these trucks, it the looks, functionality, simple to repair, and cheap parts. There are things you can do to increase mileage, however, if mileage is a concern, a PW may not be the truck to have. I have the stock 230, 5.83 gears and 1100-16 XLs, and I can get about 13 on a road with minimal stops driving 38-40 MPH. I keep the speed down as any faster and it wears the XLs quicker. If I switch out the mechanical advance for a vacuum/mechanical distributor, I can increase the MPG, but I haven't done that yet since mileage is not a concern for me. You may want to talk with the guys that do conversions offering various combinations to see the best options for mileage, see the link.
