I waited a while but finally pulled the trigger on getting some LED lights for my shop. I have 2 runs of 8 ft fixtures and they were high output Fluorescent. I was happy with them but they do go through bulbs as the years go by. I had 3 ballasts go out and instead of replacing them I decided to convert as they go bad.
Did some research and you can but just the bulbs to fit anyone of the 3 styles of ends on the bulbs. I have the shielded doubles. To convert, you take out your existing ballast and simply run the hot to one end and the neutral to the other. With open double pins it's even easier. Hot and Neutral are on one end and you clip all the wires on the other end. Those ends are essentially just holders. VERY easy to do. 25 bulbs that are 8 ft long ran me $370.00 with tax. I went for the brighter ones and you can get cheaper, lower quality ones if you wish.
They are supposed to use at least 50% less electric and last at least 20 years. Not affiliated with the seller, just passing along info and they are VERY noticeably brighter. Pic here is 40 feet of high outputs.
