Were the front and rear fenders on a 1954 PW originally black from the factory?

I have seen trucks on this forum with the front and rear fenders painted the same color as the cab.

Just wondering...

According to my research the original owner of this truck was the Minnesota Highway Department. It was originally green from the factory but was exterior surface painted in orange/yellow before being placed into service. So I plan to repaint the cab and pickup bed interiors in green and surface paint the cab and bed in orange.
