Thanks Vaughn but I did a lousy job of explaining. It was converted to this mess when I got it. A btry disconnect that I have since removed. A key ignition switch, and then a push button to start. The starter has a sole top terminal but that terminal and cable is a fraction from the block. I was hoping to rotate the starter around the axis so as to postion the terminal toward the ground. A modern screw on oil filter system was added and the hoses to the block prevent the starter from being easily removed. Before I disassemble the whole darned thing only to find it won't work I thought I would ask. Perhaps there is a modern 12 v starter that I can use w/o going back to the floor starter.
