Release bearing pull back spring.

I�m installing a new pull back spring and release bearing. How do I know when the release bearing sleeve is adjusted properly in reference to the release fork? At present the release bearing is allowed plenty of movement while hanging from the spring and the alignment with the sleeve seems rather random. Any advise before this all goes back into my truck ?
