Years ago I swapped putting a Cheby 350 four bolt with an El Camino water pump (shorter), along with a short shaft turbo 400 transmission. Installed a Lokar shifter that took the place of the old shift stick.
Fit fine with basically a double knuckle u joint to stock transfer. Went like a bat outta hell to about 65 mph, but sounded louder than a drag boat doing the quarter mile.
Mounts were made using 4x6 tube pieces for the front, modified Chevelle transmission mount for the back. Drivers side header was a bit tricky with the steering box.
