The Carryall has a oil pump that, instead of the usual 6 hole cover plate, has a 5 hole one. A pentagon as it were. Its been leaking since I got the poor thing. So after getting 2 sets of 6 hole gaskets I finally got an O' ring that's supposed to be for these 5 hole ones.
After many months of being lazy and putting up with it; Today is the day to change it out. Pulled it apart. Scraped out the remains of the old o-ring. Resurfaced the cover plate (it was pitted all over) and..
Its too bloody big! The overall diameter is larger than the o-ring groove diameter. It says right on the package its for a '60-'90 6 cylinder. I'm wondering if that's for a slant 6?
Has anyone run into this kind of issue before? Am I missing something here?
