Well, it depends. If you want absolute reliability
change the core, the tanks can be reused.
As an example; When I rebuilt my Dodge Old Iron and a Jeep CJ-7, which all 5 were getting Cummins Engines (pictures at the link below) and I wanted absolute reliability. I had the cores changed, used the existing tanks. This does not effect you but I also had the in/out connections changed to match the Cummins in/outs. The radiators were set up for 7 PSI. Its not cheap, roughly $700 in the north east, but I had confidence on my trip with the Carryall to Labrador.
With that said, if your only plans are driving more local, then a good flush check tanks for cracks or leaking seams and call it good.
So, thats why I say it depends on what are your future plans for any extended trips.
