My Jeep JK has had a sort of death wobble since last Christmas and I have found a fair amount of play in the front ball joints. It has a 140k so I guess the originals did ok for ball joints based on some stories I have read. Looking at replacements all the heavy duty aftermarket stuff including the Moog ones are knurled but the factory ones are not. I found a mention that they are knurled to get a tight fit for worn knuckles. I have no reason to think the knuckles are worn, this Jeep has been off road but isn't lifted. I would like something that will last and it may see a small lift in the near future. Will the knurled fit and if so will it mean that oem style won't fit again? Are they a good idea? I have never replaced ball joints, older d44 axles don't seem to wear the ball joints like new ones?
