I went out to start up my Drive Way Queen after a year. Pump the primer lever, see crud in the settling bowl. Remove the bowl, dump the contents into a pickle jar for examination. Tear up the cork gasket during removal, scrape the gasket off, losing the filter screen. Find the sreen cut a new gasket out of a sheet. Re-assemble, get it cranked up, drive a mile and check the bowl. 1/2" of crud.
Dump the pickle jar on a paper plate to dry. Exam shows what looks like brown sand, but is soft enough to smear on the paper plate. Only one thing it can be, deteriorating rubber hose lining.
Doulbe drat, my phine was on the bumpoer at the sart of the yest drive. I'm out of here...
