Anyone happen to have one of those blue drop off mailboxes that used to be on street corners, now some are still in front of Post Offices? As it turns out, the Post Office says it is against federal law to allow a box to be given or sold to the public, they are always destroyed.
I have a lead on one on eBay, but its 900 bucks and in Michigan.
This is for a project at my Headquarters. Some time ago, we were in Riverside and the Riverside City Fire Dept has an old mailbox they repainted red and declared up as a place for the public to drop off used worn and tattered US flags. They then gather them and give them to the American Legion for proper disposal. The general public usually doesn't know how or where to dispose of old flags, and this is a super way to do it. I have already arranged with local news channels and papers to do stories about it and help get the word out.
I would buy the one in Michigan but at 900 bucks for the box, and then figuring out how to ship it here, might be cost prohibitive. Specially since Im doing this without the Department helping to pay
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I can provide pictures to anyone interested.
Thanks
Nick
