Is anyone using the new door hinge mirror mounts Vintage is selling, on page 87.

Im wondering what is the thought of putting the flattened mirror arm into the wide mouth of the mounts. I am trying to cut shims and gonna use star washers to keep it all snug. Anyone else have any ideas?
