I just replaced mine (again) last month. Had similar problems. I think when I sandblasted the frame and then painted it, the channel became a little bigger in areas and also very slick from the new paint. Some places held the gasket very well and others not so much. My gasket was about 1/2' too long so I cut it and installed in sections using the 3M rubber adhesive. Super huge pain to put the adhesive in the channel and also on the gasket to let it cure for a little bit. Then I would assemble in sections. Think I did it in six steps. Two top sections, two bottom and once on each side. Kept me from getting the adhesive everywhere. Used it to join the cut area of the gasket where I ended up removing about 1/2" of material. Made the fit much better and less inclined to come out of the channel. Gasket is contoured to fit against the cab correctly. Good luck!
