I recently cut open my Carryall gas tank. All four baffles had broke free and were sliding around. I was surprised to see they were originally soldered or leaded to the sides of the tank. The pick up tube was supposed to be held down by a notch in the bottom of the baffles, but without them it was probably 3 inches above the floor. Also, the external 5/16 ID fuel line screwed into a factory inverted flare fitting on the side of the tank. This fitting looked tiny so I checked it with a drill bit. A 5/16 was too big, so was 1/4! Lastly, the floor of the tank looked great, but the ceiling was very rusty. If you pull the sender out use a small mirror to look at the insides. Good luck.
