Transfer case temperature

I noticed the transfers case on my �47 WDX gets hot to the touch ( can�t leave your hand on in for more tha a few seconds) . I�m running Lucas 80W-90 heavy duty gear oil in both the transmission ( which is warm to he touch ) and the transfer case. Is this normal for the transfer case to get so hot. Should I be using a different gear oil? Please advise. Thank you.
