Yep! I have had a lot of intermittent problems with rust flakes and debris (pine needles are the worst) in old tanks, even after pulling the tank and washing with gravel, etc.
I troubleshoot with a portable tank/pump strapped in the bed. If that goes well, I connect the truck’s fuel pump directly to the portable tank and see how it does.
Actually I try a bunch of other stuff first and cuss a lot. A marine tank and a 12v pump and switch run into the cab makes it easy-ish.
The oil pressure settling around 40 after heat soak sounds normal (?). They can put whatever numbers they want on the bottles but all oil is skinny when it gets hot. :)
