48 Powerwagon restore or modernize?

Hello, I have a 48 powerwagon which has been a long time dream truck. I am 48 and a retired Navy diver and would like to drive the truck daily. So here goes restore or modernize? (I have a 31 ford coupe original, and a 55 GMC truck original) If I restore its worth more but don't really care as I plan on driving it till I die and I have no children, or modernize by finding a donor truck and pull drive train and axles which nets me better braking, safer wheels and tires, and a drive train that can get out of its own way.. SO help me out what's the best option to have a daily driver that retains the look and feel but works as a vehicle I can count on. Additionally Cost and availability of parts for a restore is a concern. Thanks Scott
