The V-10, is a cast iron version of the Aluminum Viper engine. The engine was originally designed for a new J-30 Jeep truck, by Jeep. It has nothing to do with the Mopar 360, it was designed from the AMC 360. Dodge inherited the genius behind this when they bought AMC.
The V-10 gets an honest 14-16 mpg, when loaded or towing you can expect this to be less depending upon weight and driving habits.
The V-10 has MORE torque than the Cummins, but the new HP Cummins will outdo it, but the new Cummins will outdo every other engine on the road, including the duramax (gm & isuzu). If you like quiet and hate the smell and mess of a diesel then you can't get a better torque gasoline engine. Contrary to popular opinion, it is NOT a hotrod, just a lot of tiny little cylinders in one block.
