My '49 B1PW likes 2 pumps on the floor pedal, pull the choke knob all the way out and pull the hand throttle out 1 click. Crank and it immediately fires, but I have to push the choke back in about 1/2 way right away or it dies. Let it fast idle for a minute or 2, then drive off just fine. Keep easing the choke in until it will run without any choke. The hand throttle really helps me to start the old girl. Good luck.
