My M37's easy: The battery's usually dead, and there's so much crap in the gas tank it won't go 5 miles before you need to clean the fuel bowl screen. The average punk kid around here has never seen a foot-pedal starter, and is too stupid and stoned to figure out which unmarked toggle switch is the one for the ignition, let alone find the shut-off valve on the fuel filter.
The M35's a bit of a worry, but any of the chop-shop gang's ever driven any kind of MV, let alone learned that you have to push in the stop cable, turn on the fuel pump, and then push the unmarked starter button. If they do get it started, it'll take them longer to figure out that the funny lever in the floor is for the transfer case and it's in neutral.
If I was more worried, I'd just hide a ignition kill switch up under the dashboard somewhere, or for a diesel put it in series with the starter switch. And then DON'T let the neighborhood kids watch you when you turn it on.
