Given the circumstances. I.e. Hard pavement and fully loaded + large diameter tires + dumping the clutch = lots a broken stuff
Heck. Over the years I've owned a few 1/2 ton dodge military wc trucks.
Just driving on pavement I broke pinion gears in my rear diff. Two separate times. Two different trucks.
No abuse. Just driving. Were they fatigued over the many years of service? Probably.
But the 4:89 in the earlier wc wasnt the strongest setup.
In fact I once retrofitted a m37 rear diff with 4:89 innone of my 1/2 tons becuse I was so afraid of it happening again
Now you all are talking later PW gears in the 9-5/8" rears. Probably a helluva lot more stout setup that's the smaller 8-3/4" 1/2 tons had
