Not really sure what it is but it seems the inspectors act like they applied for the police academy & didn’t make it, so they applied for border patrol...no go & then they found their calling with the municipality & they’re gonna get even one way or the other. I work in a huge city & deal with them every day for a living & it’s like a game. You have to let them find a problem & then just play the game. “Oh boy...you’re right! I never even noticed that...sheesh...glad you pointed that out!! We’ll get it fixed just like you suggested immediately!”

Anyway. Not sure why the good tradesman don’t apply for these jobs but my guess is they make far more income as top tradespeople than the city pays & not only that but who wants to spend half the day doing paperwork when you went into this line of work because you were excellent at working with your hands.
The common answer I hear from the inspectors is that they had a back injury & so although they were at the “top of their trade”, they had to take a desk job.
Ah huh.
