Ok, so the bushing is supposed to be burnished then honed? Not just pressed into place and then honed?
Just making sure I understand. I'm going to be discussing all this with my machinist and I want to go in somewhat educated.
Also trying to understand the different sizes of replacement bushings that are available, and this may help explain. Some bushings have an OD of 0.9135, while others have an OD of 0.915. I'm wondering if the smaller ones get burnished to expand into the hole and the larger ones simply get pressed into place and being larger, maybe they already fit snugly enough. Then there are still larger ones with an OD of 0.9205, which of course require the rod to be machined oversize. I suppose these are for damaged rods.
Another odd thing is some of these bushings have an ID of 0.8596 and others have 0.8600. The larger ID would result in too large of clearance with the pin, so not sure why those are said to fit these engines. I'm not sure those advertised IDs are reliable anyway, as I assume any of these need to be honed to final size. Any comment on this would be appreciated too.
