Normal gap is 0.35
Normal HEI equp. vehicles is 0.60

I have no experience with HEI on a 230 flathead,and you don't say if your running a stock coil ,or hotter performer coil.
I think I would try 0.45 with stock coil or more with hotter coil and see how they burn.

Could always check with Pertronix and see what they say.
Maybe someone here who runs one will know.
