Went out to the truck and checked the end of the gen with a welders mirror, the brushes were good, the wires all looked good with no obvious flaws. I had the cover off the reg and it also looked good so I cleaned the contacts and then it wouldn't do anything at all, the gauge would show a discharge, as in the lights or heater blower motor, but no charge, even revving the motor, so paid a visit to evil-bay, and low and behold, the first listing on the first page was the right one, 19.00 and free shipping two days later it's on the porch. installed the gen now gens just like it's supposed to, no bouncing, just a steady charge rate. all is well once again.
