1962 Fargo Power Wagon W300

I bought and towed it home from Butte Montana to save it from the crusher.

This is a 1 ton dually 4x4. It has the Chrysler 361 Truck engine (1968 date code) mated to the Borg Warner T98A Top loader 4 speed. The truck shifts gears just fine. It has a nine foot Sweptline bed.

Transfer case is a New Process 201 with Braden PTO connected to a working Braden LU2-133 winch with a new 80ft steel cable. Clutch release bar is seized because I have not torn down the winch to clean out the years of grit and grease that have contaminated the slide bar. But I have manually disengaged the gear so you can pull the cable out. So I know it works.

It has Dana 70 axles with 4.88/1 gears with Sure Grip in the rear. While the 361 is in the Chrysler "B" big block family its the gears and drivetrain that makes this truck a brute.

I have rebuilt/replaced all brakes I.E NEW brake drums, brake kit(springs, wheel cylinders) and special 1 ton brake shoes and master cylinder. The brake booster could be replaced but still works.

I have replaced the clutch master and the clutch slave and replaced the clutch fluid line between the two with a special made Earls steel braided line.

I rebuilt the 2bbl Stromberg and replaced the fuel filter. Flushed the gas tank.

I installed a NOS tie rod with ball joints and have a $300 new pitman arm that I have not installed yet.

New U-joints on the rear drive shaft. I didn't get to the front one yet. Rebuilt the WARN hubs.

The truck has new tires(Tornel(7.50x17), inner tubes and flaps. Wheels are Kelsey Hayes split rims/snap ring.

Brand new stainless exhaust with glass packs.

I installed a new set of Rancho Shocks.

All fluids have been replaced with the best Redline fluids they offer. Except the transfer case due to the bronze bushings. But that fluid has been replace by Lucas oil made for the NP201 transfer case.

All electrics work. Turn signals, brake lights, headlights and wipers.

There are no seat belts. They didn't come with any.

The truck does have an older Direct Connection electronic ignition system. New distributor cap, rotor and wires.

I put in one of the vintage seat covers. Not because the original seat is destroyed. But because of the vintage cool factor.

Paint. A mix of the original blue covered by the fading red and some surface rust. Everyone tells me not to paint the truck but to matte clear coat the 'patina'. I agree.

Rust. The floor boards have pinholes in them but still are strong. And there is a quarter size hole in the passenger door. Undercarriage has light service rust. This is due in part because Alberta Canada (where it spent its life) doesn't use salt on their roads and neither does Montana. But this truck spent its working life off road.

The tailgate is mangled but I have a replacement tailgate in primo condition. It says DODGE. But the Fargo can be cut out of the old tailgate and grafted into the new tailgate.

New windshield wipers. I have replacement window weather stripping.

Original glass all the away around.

So...this truck. Its big. Sitting next to a 4x4 Suburban you look down at its roof. It can only go 45 mph. Military running gear.

Engine shows 40 lbs. of oil pressure. I'm sure the engine has not been rebuilt.

The truck is unique. So much so when I went to register it here in Cali nobody knew what a Fargo was. I had to get it weighed and inspected by the CHP. It passed and now it is registered in California, has vintage 1962 California truck plates. I have the title. And the 1962 Fargo shops manuals(three books) and owners manual.

I'm sure I have missed something. And I'll be sad to see it go. Its one of a kind. It belongs on a farm or at least in a rural area. It is a handful.

Price is $10,000, Or Best Offer.
76,637 miles on odometer.
Thank you for looking.
