When I first bought the Bumblebee (gotta use a Christmas Picture) it came with a 251 and 900/16 NATO tread tires, and 4.89 difs.
I live on a mountain at a 2100 foot climb from the settlement. I would get about 3/4 up and have to shift down to 3rd for the rest of the way. Take off from a stop was as expected for a 4x4 off road truck, reasonable but you wont light up the tires.
Top speed, I ran was about 50.
To compare, I then dropped in a 318, still 4.89's, NATO tread tires and 4 speed, 4 wheel disks, PS. Climb the mountain up to my home all the way in 4th, loads of power. A little better from a dead top, but no lighting up the tires. I then went with a Cummins 4BTA, CPL 857 and NV-4500 5 speed OD. Climb the mountain in 4th all the way. Really no difference from a dead stop compared to the 318. Top speed, any legal road/Interstate speed.
If you keep in mind your driving a serious 4x4 off road machine, designed for off road, you will be happy with the 251/4.89's and 900/16 tires. But dont challenge a rice burner to a race, he will win.
