I'm not sure what HP rating a 1942 251 would have, but I have a Chrysler flathead six industrial engine rebuild manual, which I think is from the 50's, and it shows the models 8 and 8A (251 cid) as producing 113 HP at 3600 RPM, and 206 ft-lbs of torque at 1400 RPM. The manual doesn't seem to specify engine year model.
Also, this same manual shows the industrial 218, 237 and 251 as having cast iron pistons. Again, I don't know what years this would apply to, as the manual doesn't specify. I'm not sure how you can tell in your case. Maybe you can pull a spark plug and fish a skinny magnet down in there?
