to search and then spend. We had several older Ford 600 and 700 fire trucks in our fleet and had one break a rear output which knocked several teeth off of a few gears inside. Parts were very scarce and expensive. When repair parts could not be found easily, and the "local" truck shop quoted $7000 for the repair, I got involved. I spoke with a gentleman on one of the Ford forums and he sent me a few of his old go to places. A large heavy truck yard in Ohio ended up having 5 of those rockwells on the shelf, 3 of which were remanufactured. Turns out one was exacty what we needed and he sold it to the department for $2500 plus shipping which I believe was around $300. At the time we were actually considering buying an entire used truck just for the transfer case.
We are down to 2 of the 80's model trucks now and they both have the 223.
