From 1999 to 2010 I hauled scrap steel for a company in Baltimore,Maryland.I hauled into steel mills throughout the middle atlantic states.I hauled into Bethlehem mills in Steelton,Pa.,Coatesville,Pa.and Baltimore,Md..Actually the Baltimore mill had been sold to another owner when I was going in there.During WWII they built a whole city there with it's own hospital, police department, schools, and housing. They not only made steel but built Liberty ships on the property. The mill changed hands several times before finally closing down.I haven't been over there since I retired but I am told that it is all gone.Very sad.I was waiting for the scale house to open one day when I looked down at the railroad tracks and saw that same Bethlehem logo on the side of the rails.I started looking at the other tracks and sure enough that logo was everywhere.By the way the Steelton,Pa. mill specialized in producing rails.
