Well, nevertheless, I'm glad you've got it figured out! I was really starting to think there was an issue with part numbers in the parts books for those gears.
Did the original drive gear with the illegible part number match up with the new drive gear in the transfer case?
There wasn't any wear on the plastic teeth of the pinion?
We have one of those speed radar signs in a work zone over here and some days it says I'm doing 69 other days it says 61 even though I'm really doing 60mph in the work zone. My GPS always matches the speedometer in my car. Don't really trust that sign much, hopefully the cop doesn't either...ha..ha!
