OK, on my 57 W-100, my speedometer reads 20% slow, across the board, 20%. Doesn't matter if it says 20 mph, I am at about 25. 50 mph I am at 60. I figured the speedometer pinion in the transfer case must be incorrect. I had the truck up on the lift today for other work and decided to go ahead and pull the pinion and see what I had. The parts book calls for pinion #1268-649 (4:11 gears with 7:50-16" tires) Using a magnifying glass to read the tiny numbers stamped on the pinion, that is just what I have! So now I am stumped. Can the speedometer be that far out of calibration? Is there an adjustment that can be done in house or is it a send it out for the specialists to deal with?
Thanks,
Tim
