The AMP gauge is like the meter on your house, it only works if ALL power (except the main starter feed) goes through it. From there you feed the fuse block (through the starter switch I think).
The switch determines which parts of the fuse block gets power when, and the fuse block protects and distributes power to the item listed on the wire/instructions. For instance the gauge B+ wire feeds any other gauges that need power (like the fuel gauge), if you have multiple gauges that need power then you daisy chain them.
